Frequently Asked Questions

  • A marketing consultant helps small business owners build stronger brands and attract more customers by providing strategic guidance, creating content, and optimizing your online presence. Unlike hiring a full-time marketing employee, you get expert-level strategy and execution without the overhead of a salary and benefits.

Specifically, I help you clarify your brand message, understand your ideal customers, develop content strategies, manage your social media presence, and ensure people can actually find you when they're searching online.

  • You likely need a marketing consultant if you're experiencing any of these: you're not sure what to post on social media or your content feels inconsistent, you have a great business but struggle to explain what makes you different, potential clients can't find you when they search online, you're spending time on marketing but not seeing results, or you know you need to market yourself but have no idea where to start.

The right time to hire a consultant is when you recognize that marketing matters but either don't have the expertise to do it strategically or don't have the time to do it consistently while running your business.

  • The Brand Audit is a complimentary 30-minute assessment where I review your current online presence — your website, social media profiles, Google Business Profile, and overall brand clarity. You'll receive a written report identifying what's working, what's missing, and specific recommendations prioritized by impact.

This includes evaluation of your message clarity, visual consistency, customer connection, and technical elements like SEO basics and local search visibility. There's no obligation and no sales pitch — just honest feedback and a clear roadmap you can use whether you work with me or not.

  • No. While I'm based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and work with local clients, I also work with Realtors, boutique owners, and small business owners across the United States. All of my services are available remotely via video calls and cloud-based collaboration tools.

Local clients have the option to meet in person if they prefer, but the quality of work is identical whether we're working face-to-face or virtually. Brand strategy, content creation, and digital marketing translate beautifully to remote collaboration.

  • My services are structured in three tiers to fit different needs and budgets. The Brand Foundation Builder is a one-time project investment of $1,800–$2,500 that builds your complete brand strategy, messaging, and content system. Brand Momentum is ongoing monthly support at $1,200–$1,800 per month that keeps your brand consistently showing up with fresh content and strategic guidance.

I also offer additional services like website design, professional content creation (photography & videography) as add-ons. Every engagement starts with a free Brand Audit so you can see where you stand before making any investment.

  • Brand Foundation Builder is a one-time, 3-week project that builds the foundation of your brand — your positioning, messaging, voice, content strategy, and optimized profiles. It's the strategic groundwork that clarifies who you are and how you'll show up. You walk away with everything you need to market yourself consistently.

Brand Momentum is ongoing monthly partnership where I execute that strategy for you — creating content calendar, writing captions, managing your Google Business Profile, producing blog posts, and keeping your brand active and growing while you focus on running your business. Most clients start with Foundation Builder to get clarity, then add Momentum for consistent execution.

  • Yes. While my core packages are designed to work together, I do offer standalone services including website design, brand photography coordination, and one-time consulting projects. If you need help with a specific challenge — like updating your website, developing a content calendar, or auditing your current marketing — we can discuss a custom project scope.

That said, marketing works best when approached holistically. A new website without a clear brand strategy or social media content without proper profile optimization will always underperform. I'll always recommend the complete approach, but I'm flexible based on where you are and what you need most urgently.m description

  • For the Brand Foundation Builder, it's a one-time project with no ongoing commitment. For Brand Momentum, I recommend a minimum 3-month commitment because meaningful marketing results take time to develop — you won't see the full impact of consistent content and brand building in just 30 days.

After the initial 3 months, Brand Momentum continues month-to-month with no long-term contract required. You can pause or cancel with 30 days' notice. My goal is to deliver so much value that you want to continue working together, not to lock you into something you don't find valuable.

  • Start with the free Brand Audit. You'll get valuable, actionable feedback you can implement yourself even if you're not ready to invest in full consulting services. Many clients will take the audit recommendations and work on them for a few months, then return when they're ready for the complete Brand Foundation Builder package.

  • For the Brand Foundation Builder, you'll need to commit about 3-4 hours total over the 3-week project — primarily for the initial positioning session (60-90 minutes), a mid-project check-in (30 minutes), and reviewing/providing feedback on deliverables (1-2 hours). I do the heavy lifting; you provide input and approval.

For Brand Momentum, you'll spend about 30 minutes per month on a strategy call, plus occasional quick reviews of content before it goes live if you prefer to approve it first (many clients will give me full autonomy after the first month). The entire point is to take marketing off your plate, not add to your workload.

  • I provide the content and captions, and you decide how you want to handle posting. Many clients prefer to post themselves because it keeps them connected to their brand and allows for real-time engagement with comments. Others grant me access to their accounts to schedule posts directly.

Either way works. If you want me to handle posting, we'll set up a scheduling tool like Meta Business Suite and I'll queue everything up for you. If you prefer to post manually, I deliver everything organized and ready to go with clear instructions on when and where to post each piece.

  • The Brand Foundation Builder package includes one full round of revisions on all written deliverables, and we develop your brand voice together during the positioning session specifically to ensure the content sounds like you. For Brand Momentum, the first month is a calibration period — we'll adjust tone, topics, and approach based on your feedback until it feels right.

That said, effective marketing sometimes requires pushing outside your comfort zone. If content feels awkward because it's more direct or personal than you're used to, we'll discuss why that approach works and whether the discomfort is worth the results. I'm not here to make you uncomfortable, but I will challenge you when I know something will work better than what feels safe.

  • For standard Brand Momentum content, I work with your existing photo library — images you've already taken of your products, listings, workspace, etc. I'll curate and strategically assign photos to content based on your content calendar. For content themes where you don't have appropriate images, I'll provide curated stock photo recommendations.

If you don't have a strong photo library or want professional brand photography, I offer Content Creation services where I coordinate professional photographers to create custom images aligned with your brand and content strategy. This is an add-on service, not included in the base packages, but it's often worth the investment for significantly better results.

  • I never ask for your primary passwords. For any accounts where I need access — Google Business Profile, social media accounts, website backend — I'll request that you create a separate user account with appropriate permissions for me. This keeps your primary credentials secure and allows you to revoke access anytime.

For accounts that require password sharing (some older systems or basic versions), I recommend using a secure password manager like LastPass or 1Password to share credentials safely. Your security and privacy are priorities, and I follow industry best practices for access management.

  • Brand clarity and confidence happen immediately — you'll feel more grounded in your messaging as soon as we complete the Brand Foundation Builder. Visible results like increased engagement, improved search visibility, and inbound leads typically emerge in months 2-3 and compound significantly by month 6.

SEO and search visibility take 60-90 days to show meaningful movement. Social media growth and engagement improve within 30-60 days of consistent, strategic posting. The businesses that see the strongest results are the ones that commit to at least 6 months of consistent execution, because that's genuinely how long it takes for brand building to compound into sustainable growth.

  • No ethical marketing consultant guarantees specific client acquisition numbers because too many variables are outside our control — your pricing, your service quality, your market conditions, your follow-up with leads, and timing all affect conversion. What I can guarantee is that I'll build you a professional brand foundation, create consistent high-quality content, and optimize your visibility in search and social media.

What typically happens is this: your brand becomes more recognizable, people start commenting that they see you everywhere, warm leads start coming inbound instead of you chasing cold prospects, and the clients you do work with are better-fit because your messaging is clear about who you serve. Those outcomes are predictable and measurable. Exactly how many new clients close is influenced by factors beyond marketing.

  • Three things: I prioritize authentic brand building over tactical tricks, I bring corporate-level strategic thinking to small business pricing, and I handle both the creative side (messaging, content, voice) and the technical side (SEO, AEO, Google optimization) that most consultants only do one or the other.

I spent more than 15 years managing major brand campaigns for corporations, and I'm bringing that same strategic rigor to Realtors and small business owners who deserve better than cookie-cutter social media advice. I also genuinely believe the best marketing sounds like a real person, not a corporate robot, which is why my approach always starts with who you actually are rather than what you think you're supposed to sound like.

  • The free Brand Audit is specifically designed to figure out fit before either of us commits. If during that conversation it becomes clear that your needs don't align with my services, I'll tell you honestly and can often point you to resources or other consultants who might be better suited to what you need.

For Brand Momentum clients, if after the first month or two we realize the partnership isn't working, we can part ways professionally with 30 days' notice. I'd rather help you find the right solution than keep working together when it's not producing results. Good consulting relationships require mutual fit, honest communication, and shared commitment to the work.

  • SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the practice of making your website and online content more visible in search engines like Google. When someone searches "Realtor in Charlotte" or "boutique clothing near me," SEO determines whether you show up on page one or page ten — and most people never look past page one.

For small businesses, local SEO is especially important because you're competing primarily within your geographic area. Proper SEO means potential customers can actually find you when they're actively searching for what you offer, rather than only finding you if they already know your name. It's one of the highest-ROI marketing investments you can make.

  • AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) is optimizing your content so AI-powered tools like ChatGPT, Google's AI Overview, Siri, and Alexa actually cite your business when people ask questions. Instead of clicking through search results, people increasingly just ask an AI tool for a recommendation — and AEO ensures your business is the answer they get.

While SEO focuses on ranking in traditional search results, AEO focuses on having your content structured in a way that AI tools can easily understand and reference. This includes FAQ pages, clear service descriptions, and properly marked-up website data. It's newer than SEO but increasingly critical as more people rely on AI for recommendations.

  • No. If you have an existing website, we'll optimize what you have — updating copy, improving SEO, adding missing elements like FAQ pages, and ensuring your brand message is clear and compelling. Many clients see significant improvement just from optimizing their current site without rebuilding from scratch.

That said, if your website is truly outdated, broken, or built on a platform that makes updates difficult, I may recommend a new site. I offer website design services, but it's always an optional add-on, never a requirement to work together. We start by assessing what you have and make recommendations based on what will actually move the needle for your business.

  • For social media, I work primarily with Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn — the platforms where most Realtors and small businesses see the strongest business results. I also support YouTube if that makes sense for your business.

For websites, I build on Squarespace or Wix, which are professional, user-friendly platforms you can manage yourself after launch. If you are on another platform, I will let you know if I can help with your existing setup. For email marketing, I integrate with platforms like Mailchimp, ConvertKit, or whatever you're already using.

  • Yes. Websites on platforms like Squarespace or Wix make it easy to make updates yourself without needing a developer. As part of the website design package, I include a 1-hour training session where I walk you through how to update text, add images, create new pages, and manage basic settings.

For clients who prefer not to handle updates themselves, I offer optional website maintenance at $150-300 per month where I make updates on your behalf. But the platform choice is intentional — I want you to have independence and control over your own site rather than being dependent on me for every small change.

  • Yes. Realtors have unique marketing needs — you're building a personal brand while representing a brokerage, competing in a crowded market, and needing to stay top-of-mind with clients who only buy/sell every 5-7 years. I understand the challenges of balancing personal content with professional listings, navigating brokerage brand requirements, and positioning yourself distinctly in a market full of other agents.

My approach for real estate agents focuses on authentic personal brand building (not just posting listings), local community content that builds genuine connection, content strategies that keep you visible between transactions, and optimization for local search so you show up when people Google "Realtor near me." The goal is to position you as the obvious choice before a prospect even reaches out.

  • Boutique owners face the challenge of competing with online retail giants and chain stores while trying to build a loyal local customer base. My approach focuses on showcasing what makes your boutique unique — your curation, your personal service, your local roots — and creating content that drives both foot traffic and online sales.

This includes product styling content that shows (not just lists) what you carry, behind-the-scenes stories that build connection with you as the owner, local SEO optimization so people searching for boutique shopping in your area find you first, and strategies for turning one-time shoppers into repeat customers and advocates. We also focus on Google Business Profile optimization since many boutique shoppers search "boutique near me" and make decisions based on photos and reviews.

  • Possibly. While I specialize in working with boutique owners, Realtors and local small businesses, the fundamentals of brand building, customer clarity, and content strategy are universal. If you're a service-based business, have a local or regional focus, and sell primarily to individuals rather than large corporations, there's likely strong fit.

The free Brand Audit is a good way to explore whether my approach would work for your specific business. During that conversation, I'll be honest about whether I'm the right consultant for your needs or if you'd be better served by someone with more specific industry expertise.
